How to Rent Apartments in Växjö – Step-by-Step Guide
We are Växjö’s largest housing company – maybe your new home is with us? This guide explains step by step how to rent accommodation in Växjö through us.
1. Register for the Housing Queue
All our apartments are managed through Boplats Växjö External link, opens in new window., the municipal housing agency.
To apply for an apartment in Växjö, you must:
- Register in the housing queue
- Pay the queue fee
Housing Queues at Boplats Växjö
At Boplats Växjö, there are two types of housing queues: one for regular apartments (called the housing queue) and one for student housing.
Queue Fee
Joining the housing queue costs SEK 125 per year, starting from the year you turn 20.
Joining the student housing queue is free of charge.
You can register for the housing queue from the year you turn 17, but you must be at least 18 years old to rent an apartment from us.

Queue Points
You start collecting queue points from day one after registering in the housing queue.
Your queue points are personal and cannot be combined with someone else's or transferred to another person.
If you:
- Sign a rental agreement while in the housing queue, you are automatically reactivated in the queue. Your queue points are recalculated based on how many points the applicants behind you have.
- Get a student apartment, your queue points are reset. You need to reactivate yourself in the student housing queue if you wish to remain in line.
- Get an apartment via “Direkt”, you keep your queue time and points.

2. View Available Rental Apartments
Once you’re registered and have paid the fee, you can start searching for available apartments in Växjö.
Each listing is published for 1–2 weeks. The final application date is clearly stated in the ad.
Point-Free – Get an Apartment Quickly Without Queue Points
Some apartments are offered without requiring queue points. These go to the first person who registers interest and meets our rental criteria.

3. Apply for an Apartment
When you find an apartment you're interested in:
- Click “Register Interest” in the listing
- Follow the instructions
Please note:
- You must be at least 18 years old to apply
- You can have a maximum of 5 active applications at the same time
Create a Search Alert
Looking for a specific area or apartment size? Create a search
alert to find the right accommodation in Växjö!

Go to “My Search” → “Alerts”. You’ll receive an email when
a matching apartment becomes available.
4. Attend a Viewing
If you’re one of the six applicants with the most queue points, you may be offered a viewing. The person with the most points who accepts the offer gets the apartment.
Note: Sometimes no viewing is offered – in those cases, you’ll need to decide without seeing the apartment.
5. Sign the Rental Agreement
Before signing the contract, we check that you meet the criteria in our rental policy. We look at:
- Whether you have any payment remarks
- If your income is sufficient to cover the rent
If you meet the requirements, you can:
- Sign the contract using Mobile BankID
- Or visit our customer center
6. Move In – Welcome to Your New Home!
